Freegal Music App Reviews

Pretty Good

What I like about this app is that, through my library membership, Freegal allows me to download five free songs a week. But there seems to be some glitches. 1) if my song list is too long to fit on the screen, I cant seem to add those songs at the bottom of the list to a playlist. When I scroll down and then let go to check mark the song (or to play it, for that matter), the list scrolls back to the top. 2) The other thing is that when Im deleting letters in the search field, after I delete the last letter, the app closes. Im not sure if these glitches are related to problems with my iPad or if they have to do with the app.

Not as described, no help

This app is supposed to provide the MP3 file, but there seems to be no way to actually get the file and move it into your iPhone library. You can only play it in the app. Connecting through iTunes doesnt allow you to get the MP3 file out of the app either. Better to not use the app and instead download the MP3 file on your computer, then add it to your iTunes library and sync it to your phone that way. There is no help or FAQ on their website.

Worst app ever

Waste of time

Wow

Lol wow so many bad reviews not very many good reviews

Not bad but has issues

Overall not a bad app, esp for streaming. My main complaint is if a phone call comes in while listening to music, the music will not mute if you answer the call. This can be a bit embarrassing if say its your boss calling.

Free Music! Needs cloud sharing...

Thats my chief complaint for this super service that I am grateful my library provides. I have multiple devices and would like to be able to have all my previously downloaded songs on all my devices in the app. Silence like a cancer grows... Cheers!

Its like a website from the 90s

Visually, this app isnt very appealing, but thats the least of its problems. My biggest thumbs down is that the screen stays on the entire time Im streaming and it totally saps my battery. My second gripe is that it asks me to turn on location services every time I open the app. Theres absolutely no reason for this. Im signed in through my home library, and thats all this app needs to know about my location. Theres no reason for the app to track where I am at any given moment, and its annoying that it keeps asking. If you fix these issues and hire a designer to address the 90s website feel, Ill redo this review and up my star rating.

Its free.

You only get 5 downloads (do I get more later? Who knows). 3 downloaded fine, 2 got stuck and will not resume so thats that. I have Spotify so not a big deal -just wanted some ac/dc I cant get there - but this app could be better.

Awesome

LUV this app

No music

I downloaded songs from my library. I open the app and it says I have downloaded five songs our of five for the week. Then it says my music libary is empty. I cant access the songs I have downloaded, no matter what I try.

Nice Idea But Needs Work

Its nice that libraries are providing this service for patrons but the app needs some big improvements to make it more user friendly. -The app has no FAQ or Help section whatsoever. You have to go to the Freegal web page to get any instructions on how to use it. And they arent that great. (Maybe Freegal thinks people who work at the library have time to give tech support for their product.) -Offers features such as playlists but doesnt show you how to create them or offer to do so for you. -Clunky interface and not at all intuitive. -Only shows "most popular" genres and songs/albums. Have to use "search" feature. If you dont like top 40 pop/country/hip hop or your genre isnt popular on freegal you usually have to search for an artist, which can be time consuming. It is FREE so I have no complaints about the download limit or the often limited selection, but there are tons of free apps out there--of all kinds--that are much better written and more intuitive. Eh

Its okay. Not really what Im looking for but I guess what I am looking for doesnt really exist.

Its almost pointless

You cant get to the music after you download it. The app doesnt import it to iTunes and it doesnt have directions on the website of how to get to the music. And everyone knows that Apple is exclusive and wont let you download anything if its not from the App Store or iTunes Store. It streams fine I guess.

Amazing

Ive been looking for an app like this forever! This downloads and streams your music for free!

Was a 5

Until servers went down today and no one is answering the phone. Will try again tomorrow to find out if it will go to a 3 or back to 5.

Frustrating let-down

I use the online version and love that I can get free songs each week, especially a lot of my old jazz favorites. Was excited about the app but the stupid thing doesnt work. Tells me to logout to update but when I do does the same thing again. To to redl it but it didnt fix the problem. Lame.

Hope you live bear a library that supports he app

Pretty upsetting you need to enter a library that supports the app so if you dont have a card or your library dosent supoort this app your

Crashes and you lose downloads!!!

For the most part this app is useful. I can find many songs i enjoy and like however there have been many many many times i tried to download a song and the app crashes. Then when i reopened it ask you if youd like to continue to download. Click OK and the songs appear but they have 0:00 minutes. It wont allow you to try to redownload cuz it says Already downloaded

Pretty neat

I can only borrow 3 songs at a time but i really like it it works if you are in another app or your device is off- like your own songs! It lets you choose and sample a variety of songs as well. The only bad part is the limit.

No good

This app has none of the music I enjoy listening to. It crashes a lot as well. Also it was recommended to me by a kids program at my library. And Most of the music is explicit. I deleted this app after the first time I used it.
